Installation:
1. Open Portable GWX Stopper
2. In the tab ‘Settings’, disable ‘Show GWX Install Pop-Up’ and uncheck ‘Show GWX Prompt’
3. On the ‘Program’ tab, click ‘Add Program’.
4. Select Portable GWX Stopper, and then click ‘Next’ to make the program run as a portable application.
5. Click ‘Finish’ to complete the installation.
6. Double-click Portable GWX Stopper to run the program.
Compatibility:
Portable GWX Stopper is available as an exe file, which will start directly in the program folder.
User Interface:
Portable GWX Stopper provides two tabs. The ‘Settings’ tab includes the program’s main settings; the ‘Program’ tab is where to uninstall and remove GWX messages.
This service was very easy to disable and makes it impossible for Windows 10 to ever attempt to download a feature update. It’s also easy to get it back. This application contains easy to follow instructions and the interface is straightforward. I had no issues installing, and I’m quite new to Windows, so I haven’t had any issues with it.
The program was easy to use and worked perfectly for me. The only issue I ran into was when I was uninstalling the program, the Windows uninstaller for GWX stopped and then said I need to repair. I fixed that by clicking repair on the uninstaller, then removing the program from the ‘Programs and Features’ control panel.
It’s been a few months since my computer installed Windows 10 and I haven’t had any problems with that. I am using Windows 10 Creators Update on a Surface Pro 3. This service does exactly what it’s supposed to. I like it!
I have installed Portable GWX Stopper today and have yet to uninstall it or try to resume GWX.exe. I will be patient and wait for a while to see how the program works on my PC. Thank you for the quick and professional review.
