AutoCAD 23.1 Free PC/Windows
Let’s find out more about Autodesk’s AutoCAD.
Autodesk’s AutoCAD is one of the most prominent software tools of the 20th century. The graphics software was introduced in December 1982, at a time when microcomputers were emerging as a new computing platform. AutoCAD was the first and only commercial application that was fully compatible with microcomputers with internal graphic controllers, and it was the first true graphical CAD software application. After its introduction, the software had a massive adoption, being used by millions of users worldwide. AutoCAD has remained one of the most popular commercial CAD tools in the world.
In 2017, Autodesk’s AutoCAD was still in its fourth decade of existence. The graphics software has gone through five major releases during the last four decades.
The first AutoCAD, which came with the original title of AutoCAD 1.0, was a free academic product developed by the University of Minnesota Graphics Center. AutoCAD 1.0 was created for the Apple II, and it supported the hardware graphics controller of the Apple II, providing users with a “realistic” drawing experience on the screen.
AutoCAD 2.0, first released in 1984, introduced a new platform, and it was the first AutoCAD version that supported the Intel 8088 microprocessor. The microprocessor was much less powerful than the Apple II’s 6502 microprocessor, so AutoCAD 2.0 ran slower than its predecessor. The user experience improved considerably with the new platform.
The next AutoCAD, version 3.0, was a tremendous achievement. In its core, it was a completely rewritten application. The first version of AutoCAD 3.0 was a 32-bit application, and it was released for Apple II Plus computers. The software contained a complete set of drawing commands and tools, as well as improved rasterization and image processing.
In 1986, the first version of AutoCAD for the new Intel 80186 microprocessor platform was released. The 80186 was a successor to the 80186 microprocessor that had been released two years earlier. It was a 16-bit microprocessor that was more powerful than the 8088, and it added many new features to the application, including the ability to load and save a file in disk-based format, to display multi-page drawings, and to support external references in the drawing.

AutoCAD is the predominant vector drawing software, along with AutoCAD LT.
AutoCAD LT has more 3D capability than AutoCAD. Also, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Revit and Autodesk 3ds Max, respectively, are for 3D design, architecture and animation. These tools are free to download and can be used to create models and animations for Autodesk 360 and for companies that use them for products. AutoCAD LT has a 3D engine and a 3D modeling capabilities for parametric modeling and digital image mapping (DIM).
Since the mid-1990s, the company also supported binary formats for file interchange with Windows-based applications such as the Microsoft Office suite, which enabled seamless data interoperability. These file formats include AutoLISP 2, EMF, GIF, JPEG, MIF, MNG, MOD, OpenDoc, PDF, PCX, PNG, Portable Document Format, PICT, TIF, TIFF, VRML, and XWD. The final release of AutoCAD in 2010 no longer supports new file formats or file formats capable of being used in older applications.
There are three types of macros in AutoCAD:
VBA macros are written in Visual Basic for Applications. AutoCAD 2019 is the last version of AutoCAD to support VBA.
AutoCAD supports SQL databases since AutoCAD 2007. The SQL database system is considered a good tradeoff between storage capacity, price, and availability, and is an alternative to traditional storage systems like file cabinets and external hard drives. AutoCAD includes the Design Connection (DC) database, which can be integrated into other AutoCAD applications to support automated data exchange.
As of version 2.0, AutoCAD supports Microsoft’s ACDSee application for viewing and editing images. While originally part of Autodesk in its PowerArchiver product, the ACDSee plug-in is now an independent product and part of ACDSee Pro as of 2010.
AutoCAD LT is a vector graphics-based solution for the same field as AutoCAD; hence the name. In 2002, AutoCAD LT was introduced for

Production of nitric oxide by CD14-positive monocytes in burn injury.
Burn injury elicits an inflammatory response, but the role of inflammation in postburn pathophysiology is unknown. Release of toxic products from activated leukocytes may contribute to the shock observed after burns. Nitric oxide (NO), a toxic product of monocyte-derived leukocytes, has been implicated in hypotension and shock. Therefore, we investigated the capacity of burn-injured monocytes to produce NO. New Zealand White rabbits received either sham burn or a 30% TBSA burn and were killed 24, 48, or 72 hours after injury. On ex vivo stimulation with lipopolysaccharide (LPS), sham-injured or 72-hour burn-injured rabbit monocytes produced significantly more NO than did 24- or 48-hour burn-injured monocytes. To examine the mechanism of the effect of burn injury on NO production by monocytes, isolated monocytes from sham-injured and 24- and 72-hour burn-injured rabbits were cultured in the presence or absence of soluble receptor for LPS (sLPS) for 24 hours, and NO production was measured. Treatment of sham-injured or 24-hour burn-injured monocytes with sLPS decreased NO production. In contrast, NO production by 72-hour burn-injured monocytes was increased in the presence of sLPS. In another series of studies, isolated monocytes were treated with three different concentrations of LPS, in the presence or absence of interferon gamma (IFN-gamma), for 48 hours. NO production by LPS-treated monocytes was decreased at higher concentrations of LPS. Similarly, monocytes treated with IFN-gamma for 48 hours produced more NO than monocytes treated with no cytokine or with IFN-gamma alone. Addition of sLPS to IFN-gamma-treated monocytes resulted in significantly decreased NO production. These studies suggest that an early inflammatory response of monocytes to burn injury may contribute to their toxicity.Nick Bateman
